In the past, temples are the center of the community. People like to bring their new-born babies to see a monk
who is going to name the babies. When the babies get older, they need to learn at the temple. When they are getting
married, they need to ask for the right timing. When they get sick, they come for holy spray in the belief that this will
heal them. When they die, they will be cramented at the temple. It can be stated that our customs and culture mainly
involve with the temple. In the past, the Buddhists are strictly well behaved. When they wanted to manage something
important in their lives, they went consulting with the monks. Monks have been maintained in the high level of the
community with respect. Parents always sent their kids to learn with them. During Ayudhaya period, those who
wanted to educate their sons; they would have their sons ordained until age of 20 in order to learn lessons and
practice religious rituals.

Bovorn: home, temple, and school are the most important units in the society. These three pillars have
sustained our society with balance. It is a starting point to develop social unity. My picture expresses the social
structure with home, temple, and school. They play crucial roles in the society from birth to death. Three of them have
to rely on each other; they have to be givers and takers. They have to initiate happiness, mental peacefulness, social
thought, and unity. Bovorn is worth preserving for the next generation of Thailand.
