เรื่องราวของตุ้มเม้ง ปลาตะเพียนหางแดงและเหล่าเพื่อนสัตว์น้ำที่อาศัยอยู่ในคลองใสสะอาด แห่งหนึ่ง ในทุกๆ วันจะมีสัตว์น้ำหายไปทีละตัวสองตัวโดยไม่ทราบสาเหตุ วันหนึ่งตุ้มเม้งก็ถูกมนุษย์จับ ตัวไปไว้ในถังน้ำ ตุ้มเม้งได้ยินเสียงมนุษย์มาขอซื้อตัวเขา จากนั้นก็อธิษฐานขอให้ชีวิตพวกเขาดีขึ้น แล้วก็เทตุ้มเม้งลงไปในคลอง เมื่อตุ้มเม้งกลับลงคลองก็พยายามหนีแต่ก็โดนจับไว้ในถังอีก ในที่สุด เด็กหญิงคนหนึ่งมาขอซื้อตุ้มเม้งไป และปล่อยมันลงคลองในวัดเขตอภัยทาน ตุ้มเม้งจึงได้เจอเพื่อนๆ ที่หายไปอีกครั้ง

The story of “Toom-Meng”, a carp fish and his aquatic friends living in a clean-water river. Everyday, his friends are caught by humans. One day, he was caught, the human put him in a bucket. He heard humans taking about buying him to release him back to nature (for merit purposes). He got back in the river, tried to swim away from the land. However, he was caught again. Then, a girl bought him and release him in the river inside a temple, it is where fish catching is prohibited. He finally met his lost friends.

สอนให้เมตตาต่อสัตว์ / สอนให้เป็นคนดี / การช่วยชีวิตสัตว์นั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ดี เพราะได้ต่อชีวิตของพวกเขา / ได้เห็นความกตัญญููของเด็กหญิงคนหนึ่ง / ได้เห็นถึงความผูกพันของเพื่อนที่จากกัน / สอนให้รู้จักการรักษาระบบนิเวศในน้ำ / สอนให้ไม่รังแกสัตว์ / การปล่อยปลาทำให้ได้บุญ / ได้เห็นความดี ความเมตตาของเด็กหญิง / ได้เห็นความรักระหว่างเด็กหญิงกับปลาตะเพียน

The story teaches me to / have mercy on animals / cultivate good deeds / helping their lives means extending their lives / witness how merciful the little girl is / witness the relationship among aquatic friends / protect the aquatic ecosystem / hunting animals is wrong /releasing them back to nature is desirable / and witness the relationship between the girl and the fish.
