The monks eat. The temple boys look. People come to make merit. Here is merit to sell.
What is merit?
The temple boys eat. Dogs look. Grope for merit. Someone buys merit for possession.
The hopeless ponder.
The dogs eat the leftover and pay the merit. Another group of minions, flock of dogs devour voraciously.
The shabby child furtively looks at the eating dogs. The hopelss child can only look.
I have cited the literature "That hand is white," a beautiful book of youth literature, using the language that is simply easy to understand, with puns that bring humors. You can read without being bored and can interpolate the reality of the society straight but not violent. For "Merit" that cited as inspiration in the creation of that work, made feel of the inequality and social class division, narrated ingeniously through the story. Merit making that considered an act we all believe is clean, telling a story that is contradicting in itself. Questions came up immediately after reading them and that makes me think too. If we all turned to share, Thai society would become a society that only gives and make equal. It would probably be the most precious and beautiful thing that happened in Thailand.
